Blessed are the pure in heart. What kind of heart are we talking about here? What does Jesus mean whenever He talks about beig pure of heart? Well I'm glad you asked those questions because today is your lucky day. Let's explore God's Word together, shall we?

Blessed are the Merciful! You keep using that word, 'merciful' I'm not sure you really know what it means. As always with the Beatitudes there is always some deep spiritual truths that need to be teased out and studied to the fullest extent possible in order to find the proper spiritual interpretation. Today is no different! Let's get Merciful!

Are you hungry? Why wait? Grab a... Hold up, that's the wrong thing. Let me ask you again? Are you hungry... for righteousness? Do you long for it? Like someone that is on the verge of death from lack of food and water. Do you hunger and thirst for righteousness? Why let's find out together shall we? Fourth Beatitude coming up.

Blessed are the weak for they shall inherit the earth. That's often times how we read that verse. In our culture meekness is not viewed as a good thing. Meekness is viewed as weakness, an undesirable trait. We often think of it as passiveness, passive submission, cowardice, indecisiveness, shyness, and so forth. It's not. Meekness is strength under control. Like a soothing medicine brings comfort to much of it can poison and kill. A gentile breeze cools and soothes but a tornado can cause untold destruction. An unbroken colt is destructive while a broken one is useful and has purpose. A soft answer brings calm; a angry answer leads to strife. There is intent behind Jesus words "Blessed are the meek..." and today we are going to find out what they are.

Good Mourning. Oh, no, you though I was saying... never mind. What I was really saying was that today we are going to be talking about the second beatitude Mourning. Blessed are those who Mourn for they shall be comforted. What does that even mean and why did Jesus say it? Well... let's find out together shall we?

Blessed are the what now? Hold on, I can understand your confusion, let me see if I can explain...

Are you happy? Seems like a legitimate question, doesn't it? We all want to be happy, happy is the bestest isn't it? God wants me to be happy full stop, it's the only thing worth pursuing in this world, isn't it? Jesus wants me to be happy? He said so in the be-attitudes didn't He? Blessed is the... and then a bunch of stuff. Blessed mean's happy? Or does it? What if blessed has a deeper much more profound meaning? Kind of worth checking out as we define our terms before we tackle the Be-attitudes in the Sermon on the Mount Series.

Blessed are the... WHAT now? Blessed are the persecuted for righteousness sake! Those are Jesus words and this is His final Beatitude to us. Not only is this the last Beatitude but it also the longest (three verses), the only Beatitude with a command "Rejoice", the only Beatitude with an explanation, and the only Beatitude that is repeated by Jesus, and finally the only Beatitude addressed directly to the reader. Jesus changes the game with this one, he goes from using language such as "they" or "those" to the second person "you."
